so what are the questions that a new lensey should ask of a potential sponsoring broker my name is Chance Brown I'm the broker owner of CB&A real tours and we get new lenses that come in all the time with lists of questions that they get from real estate schools and kudos to the real estate schools for giving those things out as a suggestion as a starting point to the conversation but the real question is this of these question what's important to you as a new lensey and you're starting a new business what's important to you because I can tell you you can come in and you can ask me the question well how many listings does your brokerage have and it's a great question if you know why that's important the problem is most new lenses if I answered 10 or I answered a thousand wouldn't know why that's good or bad or indifferent to them if it's not something they care about the reason you want to go to a brokerage that has listings is because a significant portion of your business has a new license Z is going to come from open houses and if there are listings there are listings to be held open that's why you need to ask that question and know why the answer is important to you if you're going to sit down and prepare for an interview with a sponsoring broker think about the things that are most important to you and what scares you the most right now we actually went and asked our new licensees what scared you the most right after you got your license and here were kind of the the themes that ran through their answers number one was lack of support and really what that boils down to is there's somebody there that is going to be able to answer the questions when you need it because here's the deal you can sit through class after class after class but until you actually have to do it in front of a client it's not the same it's important that there be somebody there to answer the phone to walk you through things as you go through your first transactions and as you start to learn more and more about this industry number two was what do I do every day and that's really important because this business is one that is very simple to get distracted in it's very simple to see this new marketing service or this new idea or this social media influencer or whatever and try to go down these rabbit holes when the truth of the matter is the people who do the boring [ __ ] the very best are the people who are successful long term in this business and then last but not least is getting the knowledge that you need there are are a million Facebook groups there are a million different places to go and get content including videos like this one they may work they may not work they may be coming from somebody who knows what they're doing and they may very well not and so you need to have that person that you can go to that's going to distill that information you need to have classes and trainings that are going to help you gain the Practical knowledge in your Marketplace that matter the most those are the things that I would recommend you focus on as you sit down to prepare for your first interview with a potential sponsoring broker
