All right. So, today we're going to talk about a word that often gets a bad connotation and shouldn't. Hey, my name is Chance Brown. I'm the broker owner of CB&A Realtors and I want to talk about accountability. So, accountability is one of those words that I think over time has kind of gotten this identity as a punishment almost, right? I'm going to hold you accountable for this. But really, what I want to do is change the way that we look at accountability to a word that really resonates more with love. If I'm holding somebody accountable, it is because I care so much about them that I don't want to see them fail. And I think that that is an important mindset shift when we talk about the things that we need to do to be held accountable, to be coachable in our businesses as our business grows. So, we run into this a lot. We've got an agent that comes in that's looking to grow, that wants to build on their business, and we give them the framework to do it, and then they don't do anything, and they wonder why their business hasn't grown. We've got to have measures in place, and we'll talk a little bit about what those look like in a minute, but we've got to have measures in place to be able to track what we're doing and make sure we're doing the things that lead to success. Because if we don't do that and we're not constantly getting better, all we're going to do is stagnate and stay in the same place that we've always been. So, I'm going to encourage anybody watching this video that's in the real estate business or really any business where you want to grow is go out and hire a business coach or go out and find an accountability partner that will work with you well to kind of hold your feet to the fire for the activities that you need to be doing in order to be successful. Now, literally yesterday I'm talking to one of my agents and she's telling me that her coach is not holding her feet to the fire the way she would want. And I said, "Well, have you told your coach that you need that accountability?" And she said, "No." And I said, "Well, why not?" and she said because then she might actually hold me accountable. Right? So you have to be willing to be held accountable and go out and do the things the coach is not responsible for your success. The accountability partner is not responsible for your success. At the end of the day, you are and you've got to do what your coach is holding you accountable to. I prefer the idea of going out and hiring a a coach. And here's the reason for that. Number one, if you pay money to a coach, you've got skin in the game. you're going to be more motivated to make it worth the while because you're investing in it, right? And you want to see the return on that investment. Secondly, I think that somebody outside of your personal life typically is a better accountability partner. And when we talk about coaching, I think one of the things that we don't really realize is a lot of people get into coaching because they want marketing help and they want the shared ideas of a group of people that are all invested in a coaching network or something like that. But at the end of the day, the power of coaching is the power of accountability. It's the, "Hey, here are the things that you need to do, and I'm going to talk to you every two weeks and make sure that you're doing them or we're not going to move forward to the next thing." This is taking nothing away from accountability partners or accountability groups as long as a they're very structured and everybody knows the rules. B, they're not lip service. You've got to have you're going to show up or else you can't be part of this or you're going to show up or I'm just going to keep harassing you until you do it day in day out. I know accountability groups that get up at 6:00 a.m. and just get on a Zoom call together so they show that they're up at 6:00 a.m. and write notes and lay out their day together. And it's just that getting up and getting to work at 6:00 a.m. that really helps them more than anything because once they're up and they're focused on their business, they will go out and do the things. I don't love going to the gym, but I have created a habit out of it because I had a coach, a trainer holding me accountable to the things that I needed to do in the gym that now I am self-made motivated to go to the gym because it's become just part of my lifestyle. And that's what we've got to create with accountability is habits. And we have great habits. We get good results from those habits. So, I'm going to highly encourage you to stop thinking of accountability as punishment and start thinking of accountability as somebody cares. so much about you that they don't want to see you fail. And you need to live up to that love. You need to go out and do the things so that their concern for you is warranted. Hire yourself a coach. Get into an accountability partnership or an accountability group and watch your business explode as you get your feet held to the fire.
